a constant struggle
Oh dear yes
I actually want to talk about this because me and a few friends have had issue with it. Don’t just be someone’s friend because of their art skills. Like seriously that’s shallow you to choose to befriend yourself with someone because you hope to get free art or gain popularity. Its alright to find them through their art but don’t befriend them based on that. Get to know their personality a bit before you decide to. Seriously it sickens me that people only want to be friends with me and other artist because we get more attention and our art skills are better. And don’t try fooling yourself or another by saying you want to be friends not for that reason. When you ask for “gifts”, you are being rude and selfish. When you think just because its your birthday people are oblige to draw you something because you want to be their friend. Friendship is based around trust and if you lie about why you want to be friends with someone then you automatically lost that trust.
I’m not saying anything against this picture, it just got me thinking about the people who want “friends” base on their popularity and art skills.
Yes great job @weezy-pup this is amazing and is something we need to bring up! Befriend them because you want to get to know them and be their for them as a friend not because of getting free art. Bless this ~
Yeah really get to know someone before befriending them. I’ve met a fair few artists who turned out to have shitty personalities and now it’s like “oh.”
Nolan, I’m right here.
Honestly because of this I tend to be a little stand-offish toward people that start talking to me because of my art. In the past I’ve found which seemed to be rad people and then very shortly after they start asking for art, or art is all they talk about. We are people. We are so, so much more than our art.
