During this year’s American Ornithological Society meeting in Tucson, AZ, a Red Warbler was spotted up on nearby Mt. Lemmon. This central Mexican endemic wasn’t on anyone’s radar for appearances in the US. The bird was seen for only a day before vanishing forever, even as hundreds of birders and ornithologists combed the Santa Catalina mountains.
So I went for a Carmen Sandiego theme.
